About the Music

Nadine Johnson writes and performs all of her own music, which includes songs

of testimonials, praise & an everlasting faith in Jesus Christ. 

While the title of her #1 song (and album) is, “I’m a Winner”, the song closest to her heart comes from a place of renewed worship and the glory of God’s grace over despair.

When her health, marriage & life were seemingly coming to an early end, Nadine remembered an old tale from The Bible about laying down in a sack cloth, covered in ashes. She went to her brother’s home and asked for a room in which to pray.

Her brother granted her request and though she grew weaker by the minute, Nadine dislodged ashes from an old wood heater and poured them onto that morning’s newspaper. Then she laid down on the ashes and wrapped the sack cloth around her, praying through the night.

The Lord delivered her from her physical, emotional & spiritual troubles that very night. And though God had restored her, he wasn’t quite finished…inspiring Nadine to pen the song, “I Laid Myself in Ashes”, so that she (and others who hear the song) can recall the strength it takes to Let Go and Let God…and to remember the sacrifices Jesus made for all of us.
